Labaroche, traditional Vosges village

Just 12 kilomètres from Hotel Roess

There are many mountain villages close to the hotel we would recommend visiting, and Labroche is certainly among them. It’s the type of picture-perfect postcard village that the Vosges is renowned for, with cows in the fields and beautiful farms surrounded by orchards. At an altitude of 700 m, it also offers incredible views over the peaks of the Vosges and the Alsace Plain. Connected to many hiking trails, you’ll also be able to set off on numerous adventures across the countryside. Among other things, you’ll have the chance to discover the ruins of the Château de Hohnack, the highest fortress in Alsace.

A visit to Labaroche also means you’ll get to visit the village’s outstanding Wood Museum. Spread over two square kilometres, this museum and heritage centre gives you the chance to discover the art of woodworking in Alsace at the end of the 19th century. Part of your visit will be led by volunteer guides who will present several old machines in action, including a steam machine, log-sawing machine and clog machine. You’ll also be able to enjoy the educational area about trees or the space dedicated to old toys made exclusively in wood.

An invitation to endless discoveries...
